Haliburton Yoga (Lynda Shadbolt) draws from the Kripalu Tradition (www.kripalu.org) of yoga which is a form of "meditation in motion." Classes begin with breathing exercises designed to prepare the body and mind for movement. A series of gentle or vigorous warm ups are done before moving into postures. Hands on assistance is given when requested and demonstrations are provided. All students are required to participate at their own level and "adjust for the needs of their body." The breath is the guide for all of the movement and your body is your teacher. When you come to try a class, bring some water and dress in layers so that you can cool down and warm up.
Yoga invites you to move your body in new ways and to give every part of your being, the gift of movement. Yoga is about developing awareness, moving in loving ways and learning about what is possible for your body moment to moment. There are many different styles of yoga and teachers and as a student of yoga your responsibility is to do some research to find the style that meets your needs.
The practice of yoga is thousands of years old. Lynda Shadbolt teaches her classes based on her own personal experience and practice with many different teachers. If you are interested in trying a class, give Lynda a call and talk to her about her style and methods. And you are always welcome to come and try a class and see if you connect with Lynda and her style of teaching!
