WHAT WE OFFER

WHO WE ARE

Haliburton Yoga is owned and operated by Lynda Shadbolt. Lynda is a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, a Blue Belt Nia Instructor and a Yoga Ed Instructor. She is passionate about the human body and taking good care of it. Lynda loves to have fun and especially enjoys the out of doors. She has been teaching yoga, meditation, qigong and Nia in Haliburton since 1996.

Lynda has studied yoga for 12 years with many teachers including Todd Norian and Anne Green(Anusura Yoga as well as many other courses), and Esther Myers. Her extensive training from the The Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health are her roots.

Lynda has a strong interest in Buddhism and has attended many retreats, workshops and courses including the 12 week mindfulness based meditation course based on the work by John Kabit Zinn.

In the past 12 years Lynda has taken courses which have influenced how she lives and teaches. In Fall 2005, she completed a 12 week course called "Work Like You Don't Need the Money" which is based on work by Mathew Fox. Mathew came to Haliburton and Lynda had the pleasure of leading a workshop as part of his presentation.

Lynda studied relaxation massage and qigong at the Kripalu Centre, and reflexology with the Canadian Association for Reflexology. Each of these experiences, in addition to her own personal practice have influenced her approach to teaching.

Lynda believes that yoga is available to be done by everyone. Yoga is about loving your body! In her 12 years of teaching she has worked with pre/post natal moms, children, teens, seniors, corporate groups, women's weekends, families, men's groups as well as many other special interest groups.

Prior to becoming self employed, Lynda had a 10 year career working in the out of doors at a provincial leadership Centre (Bark Lake), and YMCA Camp Wanakita. Lynda is an event planner and also taught program planning for Sir Sandford Fleming College (Ecotourism Program) for 10 years. Lynda is a past president of the Rotary Club of Haliburton, and was a member for 6 years.

Lynda currently works in the community of Haliburton in different ways (travels to Patient News to offer on site yoga for their staff), designed and implemented a 6 week course on Qigong for a Health Place Work Program and is leading a 12 week course for girls in grades 6,7, 8 on body awareness.

Lynda is on the Board of Directors for the Gaia Centre, located in West Guilford Ontario. She is also on the Haliburton Cycling Committee and is helping to promote cycling in the County.

During the summer months Lynda works with the Haliburton School of the Arts (Sir Sandford Fleming College) offering massage and yoga.

Lynda travels to camps, women's weekends and resorts leading yoga and offering massage.

Lynda is happily married and is the mother of a beautiful 7 year old daughter. She has a great life in Haliburton and feels very lucky to do the work that she does!

WHERE WE ARE LOCATED: HERITAGE BALLET STUDIO

Regular classes and workshops are held at Heritage Ballet, which can be found under Stedman's in downtown Haliburton.

The Studio has a "sprung floor" which is perfect for taking care of your joints (especially your knees) when dancing and moving. The Studio has a washroom and change room. We recommend that you bring your own water to all classes.

If you plan on dropping into a class, and you are new to the area, please call us so we can help you feel welcome!
