NIA (www.nia-nia.com)

"Nia is an expressive movement practice that uses The Body’s Way to achieve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual fitness and well-being."

Nia is a barefoot, cardiovascular workout that is set to really fun music and uses dance, martial arts and the healing arts to get people moving! It is fun, adaptable to all fitness levels and is good for all body types! If you come to try a class, bring water and dress in layers. We get really hot as we fill the room with lots of energy!

Nia stands for “Neuromuscular Integrative Action” and is founded on the concept that there is a dancer, martial artist, and highly aware person within you. By melding together dance, martial arts and the healing arts, the participant develops a strong body, mind and spirit. Nia is a worldwide fitness movement that was developed over 20 years and is a form of fusion fitness that combines the energy of dancing, martial arts, yoga, Feldencriest and the Alexander Techniques.

The philosophy behind Nia is that we are supposed to enjoy moving our bodies and we should find the easy way to do that. We should move in the way that our bodies guide us. Nia is a cardiovascular program that uses whole body, expressive, grounded movement rather than repetitive movement.
